As our Awana Director and a mother of 3, my passion is for children to know the love of our Heavenly Father! I believe that God joyfully created each child and He delights to watch them grow to love God and to love each other. And that’s why we have an Awana program!
Bethany Church Awana is geared toward preschoolers – 6th grade.
Cubbies, is for preschool age children, age 3 (by Sept. 1st) until kindergarten. Cubbies is led by Annette Wiebe, our Childrens’ Outreach Pastor, and the dedicated Cubbies staff. Cubbies is a welcoming, enriching environment in which our preschoolers learn Bible stories, verses, and songs about God’s love for them.
Elementary age children are divided into groups of kindergarten-2nd grade (Sparks) and 3rd through 6th graders. Groups of children are accompanied by an adult leader called a Shepherd, who are there to help and encourage the children. All leaders are Live-scanned and background checked.
At AWANA night kids hear a Bible story told in age-appropriate, engaging ways by gifted, volunteer story tellers. Children also work in Awana handbooks, specifically designed for their different ages. During handbook time, we have a wonderful team of ‘listeners’ who help kids understand and memorize Bible verses, complete service projects, and dig into the details of the Gospel. The kids work hard with their handbooks and then they play hard during game time! Our game leaders are inclusive and creative; one of my favorite parts of Awana is the happy noise of kids and adults playing together and cheering for each other.
We welcome children, and volunteers to our program, as we make Christ Jesus known in our communities and beyond!
